COMMEMORATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY ON MONDAY MARCH 8

UNIFEM Singapore is commemorating International Women's Day on Monday March 8 with a line-up of events over the month of March, joining in the worldwide celebration of wonderful women from all walks of life!

On Saturday March 6 in a private ceremony, we are presenting promising, yet at-risk, young women currently living in local girls homes with Scholarships allowing them to take part in a life skills coaching program called My Beautiful Life (www.beautifulpeople.org.sg), and to reverse the negative life pressures they were once subjected to. This is made possible through your generous purchases at our Buy to Save event back in December.

On Thursday March 11, 6.30-8.00 pm at the INSEAD Asia Campus, you are all invited to the annual INSEAD Celebrates Women series held in conjunction with International Women's Day. In the session 'Success despite glass slippers and other slippery situations: Women's psychological and behavioural navigation of professional life', Professor Zoe Kinias, INSEAD Professor of Organisational Behaviour, will lead the discussion on the effects of cultural beliefs in the workplace, and the issues that surround them.

UNIFEM Singapore as well as Ipac are supporting INSEAD in this event For more information about this free event and for registration information please click HERE.

On Saturday March 20, 5.00-10.30 pm, you are warmly invited to 'Fabric of Life' the first fine and antique carpet auction organized to benefit UNIFEM Singapore in connection with International Women's Day. For every carpet sold, 50% of the sales price will be donated to UNIFEM!. Over a free and bountiful Indian dinner, a dhol drum performance and to commemorate our UNIFEM decade in Singapore and centuries of women's history spun in the carpet weavers' trail, we will celebrate in style. We give thanks to Lotto Carpets Gallery and the O&G Society of Singapore for bringing this opportunity to us. If you are contemplating a carpet, please earmark this event and bid generously to support UNIFEM Singapore! Please send the word around to family and friends. All guests will leave with a silk hand loom stole.

UNIFEM SINGAPORE 10TH YEAR COMMEMORATIVE BOOK

For the past decade, the National Committee for UNIFEM Singapore has been hard at work at building a safe environment for women and children in developing nations across the region. Be it encouraging women empowerment in Nepal and Laos or battling violence and sex trafficking in Batam and Aceh. Be it running regular school talks, celebrating International Women's Day or fighting for a Day off for domestic workers. Be it holding SNOW fundraisers, or partnering with local banks and brands to help those less privileged.
